This Privacy Policy explains how Tatevatsi ("Tatevatsi", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Tatevatsi iOS application (the "app") and the website at tatevatsi.com (together, the "Services"). It also describes the choices and rights you have over your information.
Our approach is simple: we keep data collection narrow and purposeful. If a piece of information doesn't make the product better or safer for you, we don't ask for it. We do not sell your personal information, we do not show third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Please read this policy alongside our Terms of Service. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Who we are
Tatevatsi provides an interactive learning app focused on economics, finance, and related subjects. For the purposes of data-protection law, Tatevatsi is the "data controller" responsible for your personal information in connection with the Services. You can reach us any time at hello@tatevatsi.com.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to information we process through the app and the website. It does not apply to third-party products or services that have their own privacy policies — for example, Apple's App Store and In-App Purchase system, or the identity providers you choose to sign in with. Where those services process data, their own terms and privacy policies govern.
3. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: information you give us, information created as you use the Services, and information from the sign-in providers you choose.
3.1 Information you provide
- Account information. Your name, email address, optional phone number, and the sign-in method you used (Apple, Google, or email and password). If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Apple provides a private relay address instead — we never see your underlying email.
- Profile content. Your username, avatar (a preset glyph or a photo you upload), country flag, short bio, and the learning goal you select.
- Contact submissions. If you use the contact form on the website, we receive the name, email address, and message you enter so we can reply.
3.2 Information created as you use the Services
- Anonymous trial data. You can start learning before creating an account. In that case we create a temporary anonymous account — a random identifier with no personal information — to hold your progress until you decide to sign up. If you never sign up, this data is not linked to any real-world identity.
- Learning progress. Lessons and units completed, XP and stars earned, streaks, dictionary bookmarks, and per-day activity. This is tied to your account so it follows you across devices.
- Subscription status. Whether you currently hold an active Tatevatsi Pro subscription. This is what unlocks Pro features. Payment details themselves are handled entirely by Apple — see Section 6.
- Usage and diagnostic data. Aggregate, event-level analytics through Firebase Analytics — for example, which lessons are opened and completed, and general performance signals — used to understand what's working and to fix problems. These events are tagged only to an internal account identifier, never to your email, name, or other personal details.
3.3 Information from sign-in providers
When you sign in with Apple or Google, that provider confirms your identity to us and shares a limited set of details you have agreed to release — typically your name and an email address (or a private relay address). We do not receive your provider password, and we do not gain access to your broader account with that provider.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain your account and keep your progress synchronized across devices.
- Provide, personalize, and improve the learning experience.
- Operate the leaderboard, which shows only the public surface of your profile (see Section 7).
- Manage your Tatevatsi Pro subscription and unlock the corresponding features.
- Send transactional messages — for example, the email-verification link when you register with email and password.
- Understand product usage in aggregate, diagnose issues, and improve reliability and content.
- Respond to your messages, support requests, and feedback.
- Protect the Services against fraud, abuse, and security threats, and comply with our legal obligations.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA / UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to create your account, deliver the learning experience, and provide the features you request, including Pro.
- Legitimate interests — to keep the Services secure, understand usage in aggregate, prevent abuse, and improve the product, balanced against your rights.
- Consent — where we ask for it, for example optional profile details you choose to add. You may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose information by law.
6. Subscriptions and payments
Tatevatsi Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. All payment details — your card, billing address, and Apple ID — are handled by Apple and are never seen by or shared with us. We only receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active, which is what unlocks Pro features. Purchases are also governed by Apple's terms. You can view, manage, or cancel a subscription at any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
7. The leaderboard and your public profile
The app includes a leaderboard so learners can compare progress. Only the public surface of your profile is visible to other learners: your username, avatar, XP, and country flag. Your email address, phone number, sign-in provider identifiers, and any other personal details are never shown to other users. If you prefer not to appear, you can adjust your profile from Settings → Edit Profile.
8. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these narrow situations:
- Service providers. Trusted companies that process data on our behalf, strictly to operate the Services and only under contract. Our key providers are listed in Section 9.
- Other learners. The public profile fields described in Section 7 — and nothing more.
- Legal and safety. Where we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or Tatevatsi.
- Business transfers. If Tatevatsi is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
9. Service providers we rely on
The Services are built on a small set of established providers:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Analytics) — hosts your account, profile, learning progress, any avatar photo you upload, and aggregate usage analytics.
- Apple — provides Sign in with Apple and processes all Tatevatsi Pro payments via the App Store.
- Google — provides Google Sign-In for account authentication.
- SendGrid — delivers transactional email, such as verification links.
Each provider maintains its own security program and privacy commitments, and processes data only as needed to deliver its part of the Services.
10. International data transfers
Our providers may store and process information on servers located in the United States and other countries. Where information is transferred across borders, it is protected by appropriate safeguards — such as the standard contractual clauses and the security measures offered by the providers above — so that it continues to receive a level of protection consistent with this policy and applicable law.
11. Data retention
We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account exists and as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, the associated data is removed from our active systems. Anonymous trial data for accounts that are never converted to a sign-up is periodically cleared. Some information may persist for a limited additional period in encrypted backups or provider-side logs before it ages out, and we may retain limited records where required to meet legal, accounting, or security obligations.
12. How we protect your information
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, authentication safeguards, and reputable infrastructure providers. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly if a problem arises. Please help by keeping your sign-in credentials confidential.
13. Your rights and choices
You have meaningful control over your information. Within the app, you can at any time:
- Access and edit your profile from Settings → Edit Profile.
- Export your data — email us and we will send your account data within 30 days.
- Delete your account permanently from Settings → Edit Profile → Delete account. This erases your profile, learning progress, leaderboard score, avatar, and the underlying account, and frees your email address for re-use.
13.1 EEA / UK rights
If you are in the EEA or UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tatevatsi.com.
13.2 California rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it, the right to request access to or deletion of that information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. Tatevatsi does not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To make a request, contact us at hello@tatevatsi.com.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights, and we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
14. Children's privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information or created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
15. Cookies and the website
The website uses only the storage necessary to make it function and to support features such as the contact form. It does not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Analytics collected within the app are described in Section 3.2.
16. Third-party links
The Services may link to third-party websites or resources that we do not control. This policy does not apply to those destinations, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
